“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” James 5:14-15
The ministry checks on and communicates with the sick and shut-in of the church through visitation, calls and cards. On a monthly basis, the ministry offers the ability for the sick and shut-in to still participate in the sacrament of Communion.
To share the love of God and the hope of healing, based on the Christian faith.
To provide a personal touch and minister through calls, cards, prayer and offering communion to ensure that members continue to feel part of Union Bethel AME Church – even during seasons of illness or life changes that prevent them from worshipping with us in person.
For those wishing to serve on the ministry, the following spiritual gifts, skills and traits are desired:
Empathy and the ability to listen
The ability to maintain confidentiality and respect privacy
Willingness to share personal testimony
Ability to lead others in prayer
